      Isolates of three races of Bipolaris maydis from China (races 0, C and T) were compared using two techniques. Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis using 24 primers indicated that race 0 and C isolates were more similar to one another than to the race T isolate. Twenty of the primers produced RAPD profiles that were similar for the race 0 and C isolates but differed for the race T isolate (four primers did not amplify products in any of the isolates). Pour primers produced profiles which differed for all three races and two of these (A -09 and B-18) clearly differentiated the race 0 and race C isolates. Genetic fingerprinting of B. maydis using M13 DNA as a probe differentiated race 0 and C isolates from the race T with all four restriction enzymes used. Furthermore, when DNA was digested with Hind III, the hybridization profiles of the race 0 and C isolates differed from one another. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

      Isolate von drei Bipolaris maydis-Rassen aus China (die Rassen 0, C und T) wurden anhand von zwei Methoden untersucht. Eine random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD)-Analyse mit 24 Primer zeigte, daß sich die Isolate der Rasse 0 und C eher ähnelten als die der Rasse T. Zwanzig der Primers erzeugten RAPD-Profile, die für die Rasse O- und Rasse C-Isolate ähnlich waren, aber bei der Rasse T-Isolat unterschiedlich waren. Vier Primer waren bei allen Isolaten unwirksam. Bei vier Primern waxen die Profile bei allen Rassen unterschiedlich und mit zwei davon (A-09 und B-18) konnte eine deutliche Differenzierung zwischen den Rasse O- und den Rasse C-Isolaten festgestellt werden. Genetisches Fingerprinting von B. maydis mit einer M13 DNA-Probe ermöglichte eine Differenzierung der Isolate der Rassen O und C von der Rasse T mit allen vier angewandten Restrictionsenzyrnen. Außerdem wurde nachgewiesen, daß nach einer Spaltung der DNA nit Hind III die Hybridizationsprofile der Rasse O- und C-Isolate sich voneinander unterschieden. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
