- Abstract:
The article discusses the study on the effects of a priming strategy without fresh frozen plasma (FPP) during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) on the coagulation after surgery and clinical recovery in pediatric patients, that found no clinical benefits to prophylactic use of FFP in priming solution. Findings discussed include safe and effective use of artificial colloids as FFP substitute in pump prime, and effectivity of thromboelastography (TEG) to assess postoperative coagulation function.
