  The article discusses treatments for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) targeting the gut microbiome. The article attributed NAFLD to obesity and insulin resistance. Also discussed are the effects of untreated NAFLD, the association of liver with the gastrointestinal tract, the role of gut microbiota in the development of NAFLD's metabolic risk factors and the progression of the disease and therapeutic benefits of alteration of the gut microbiome with prebiotic fibres.
